Mal Hall Award for Gordon Junior Cricketer of the Year goes to…. Tom Drake

The Gordon Junior Club had their 2005/5 presentation day on Sunday April 3 and presented awards to all teams for their contributions to an excellent year.

The Mal Hall "Cricketer of the Year" went to Tom Drake from the Under 14 Red team for his outstanding season.

Tom captained the side scoring 558 runs in the season @ 79.71 including 1 century and 23 sixes, 10 catches and 13 wickets @ 12.62 @ 2.7 runs per over including a hat trick.

Congratulations to the Under 13 "Blue" team who won the premiership and James presented Medals to the winning team. This team is coached by Richard Stobo (assisted by Ed Howitt Jnr) and managed by Mark Carmichael.

James also presented the Clyde Coltman Award to Junior Player of the Year to Mathilda Carmichael from the Gordon U11 Blues for outstanding performance.

Mathilda's statistics for the year (including a semi final performance) are summarised as follows:

* 351 runs at an average of 58.5 with 6 not our innings

* 15 wickets at an average of 7.67

* 13 catches

* 5 run outs

* Top score of 37 not out in the semi final

Mathilda is recognised by her team mates and opposition teams as one the most outstanding players in the competition. Mathilda's success is based around excellent technique and a highly positive approach to all aspects of the game, including her training. Mathilda plays cricket with the upmost sportsmanship and treats fellow players and officials with respect and support.

Mathilda's outstanding capabilities were also recognised in her being selected to play in the NSW Primary Schools Girls Cricket team, which competed against other States during the summer. Congratulations Mathilda

James Packman presented Jono Wigham of the U13 Blues with a Centenary Year Award for Junior Sportsman of the Year. Well done Jono.

The Junior Club would like to pass on their thanks to Ed Howitt Jnr for his coaching help and advice to our young players during the year. Ed gets on great with all our teams and their parents and they really enjoy and benefit from his guidance and sense of fun . We hope Ed can return to help our teams again next season.

The Junior Club would also like to thank to James Packman for attending our Presentations and making it a very memorable day indeed for our young players.
