U16/17 - Gordon Gold vs Lindfield Walters

Partnership Strikes Gold

Gordon and Lindfield decided to play a 32 overs a side game instead of a T20.
Gordon's Aiden Casey bowls Ben Kennedy of Lindfield

Gordon won the toss and sent Lindfield into bat. Lindfield got off to a flying start and were 2 for 55 at the end of 10 overs.
However, the steady fall of wickets and some tight bowling in the middle and late overs - especially by Jack Gohl, who took two late wickets; Tom Slack, who finished with the excellent figures of 3 for 31 from six overs and Alex Watson, who bowled a maiden in the final over - meant Gordon were able to restrict Lindfield to 126 runs from their 32 overs.
Gordon's innings got off to a slow start, with the steady fall of wickets not helping their cause. By the 19th over Gordon were 5 for 58, still needing 69 runs from 13 overs.
Then began the vital partnership between Alex Irvine and Alex Gan. Just as the partnership was flourishing Irvine was run out when, thinking the ball was dead, he adjusted his pads while standing outside his crease. Lindfield, seeing this, broke his stumps and appealed and were awarded the run out.
However, in an act of good sportsmanship, the captain withdrew the appeal and called the batsman back.
Irvine ended up top scoring with 45 not out and, with his partnership with Gan who finished 27 not out, won the game with 11 balls to spare.
