U13/14 Thunder - Round 3 vs Mosman McCabe

Thunder Show Great Spirit

On the weekend we (Gordon Thunder) versed Mosman McCabe, a very strong opponent whom we had a really tough game with. We ended up losing by a fair amount, but everyone tried their best and I'm pretty sure everyone would be happy with our team's performance.

We lost the toss calling tails but we ended up getting exactly what we wanted; to field. The opening bowler Jed Walsh powered through with an explosive over, only conceding a few runs to get us off to a good start. As Mosman's innings went on, the batters just got better and better. Two of Mosman's batters got a brilliant 40, but we are here about GORDON!

We dropped a few crucial catches in the field, but even when we were all trying our very best we only managed to keep them down to 4/206.

Special mentions to Josh, Archie & Ragav for some brilliant wickets and bowling. Although these three bowled exceptionally well, everyone else bowled to the best of their ability.

Daniel Newman and Seb Hegney

Our two opening batters - Josh Brayshaw & Ragav Roy went out into the field to face the bowlers of Mosman. They batted extremely well together & the partnership was only broken when Ragav got stumped on 18 runs going for a big shot. After this Daniel Newman (me) went in and unfortunately that same over Josh got run out. Zac Menck (the new batter) & I then batted for a while and this partnership ended when I retired on 35. Shortly afterwards Zac retired on 13 & our team put on an outstanding batting performance. The top scorers were Ragav (18), Zac (13) & I (35). We finished on a total of 5/126.

In all, I think we were outplayed in the end, but against a lot of other teams our performance would have resulted in a win.
