U13/14 Thunder - Round 1 vs Gordon Green

Thunder Strikes Early in Gordon Derby

We arrived earlier than the other team because I wanted to check the pitch and decide whether we bat or bowl first. It had been raining all night.

We wanted to bowl first and our friends in Gordon Green won the toss and chose to bat first.
We then got our bowlers warmed up.

Our first 16 overs were in the field and bowling was exceptional and we strangled the Green for runs. In the second half of the innings we lost a little bit of concentration and they got the score away from us. In the end they got 146 runs for 7 wickets.

We were very confident that we could chase down this total but didn't want to get too complacent because they could have bowled really well.

We got off to a good start with Zac and Roy pushing the gaps and getting the odd boundary. Declan was very unlucky to get run out from good effort in the field.

Harper came in next to steady the ship. I came in next and batted really well with Harper. Next Archie came in and he and I batted superbly together, with Archie smacking the balls around the park and me getting the quick singles. Next came Olly at the end getting a couple of runs.

The game ended on the 28th over and we won. yayy! We would like to thank Gordon Green for the game and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.
