James Dow gave an all round performance including three sharp catches
There were a few on field incidents before Christmas that we have addressed over the break. Our coach/manager asked players and parents for fresh start on Saturday. We wanted a committed team effort and good conduct by players in Saturday’s game at Bales Park.
Daniel Hall made another stylish 15 runs, took a catch behind the wicket and got a run out
We never got a win but I am pleased to report that we got the team effort we asked for. And, more importantly, behaviour on and off the field was very good.
In the game, we batted first, started slowly and made 124 for 8 in our innings. Raymond Su, after a slightly stuttering start, went on to make an impressive undefeated 31. Man of the Match, James Dow, retired on 20 and called and ran well between the wickets. Daniel Hall continued his pre-Christmas batting form and made a solid 15 runs. The team’s running between the wickets got better as the match progressed.
The ominous stance of Raymond Su who went on to make an undefeated 31
In the field, we took five catches and dropped as many again, which hurt our chances of a result. James Dow took three catches including a very, very sharp slip catch that would have made the highlights reels of any cricket competition. It was an absolute ‘bewdy’.
Daniel Hall and Angus Levy claimed one catch each. Aston Brown grabbed a couple of good wickets and, generally, the team’s bowling was pretty tight in our first match after the long Christmas break.
Max O’Loughlin showed the benefit of his pre-Christmas cricket clinic with a much improved technique and bowling performance. Liam Hunt chased hard in the field and saved a number of likely boundaries.
