Basic NSJCA Rules
Listed below are the basic rules for each age group. For further information, please see the details within the NSJCA blue book. The link to this book is at the bottom of this page for easy reference.

Under 9s (Average Cricket rules)

No formal competition.
No LBW.
Maximum 2 hours of play.
Minimum of 7 players and maximum of 12.
Shortened pitch of 16 metres.
18 overs per side.
Every player bats with a partner for 3 overs no matter how many times they get out.

Under 10s

Formal Competition
Games expected to run 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Minimum of 7 players and maximum of 14.
24 overs per side
Shortened pitch of 18 metres.
No LBW

Under 11s

Formal Competition
Games expected to run 4 hours
Minimum of 7 players and maximum of 14.
Full length pitch.
LBW law applies.
30 overs per side.

Under 12s to Under 16s/17s

Formal Competition
Minimum of 7 players and maximum of 14.
Full length pitch.
32 overs per side.
