Gordon Under 13's mid year report.
The U13's are a new side this year drawing talent from 2 teams who had very ordinary seasons last year. I was quite optimistic this year would be very different as we had retained the best players from the former sides blended with a couple of newcomers.
The first game was a true reality check, being soundly beaten with only one of our gun players firing with the bat. Nonetheless we put our early disappointments behind us focussing on the next play, next ball and keeping our game plan as simple as possible.
The current reality is that with more than half the competition completed, we are now clear competition leaders having won 9 matches, lost 3 with one abandoned due to rain. Our gun/ more experienced players are delivering consistently at the crease, in the field and with the ball. This has been complemented by an appreciable lift in the performances of the less experienced/ less developed players. It has been many weeks since an opposing outfit has scored 120 against us and I can't remember the last time we have lost more than 5 wickets in an innings.
The team respect the Gordon cap, each other and their opponents. The change in their fortunes from last year is o a credit to each individually and as a team. Thanks to the Senior club and Brendan McDonald for their continuing support. Go you Blues.
